Hey guys, I'm trying to get back into playing GW2 this week but my frame rate is struggling to stay above 20fps regardless of what video settings I have set up.

I am able to run Grand Theft Auto 5 in high settings at over 70fps on this rig without any problems.  Any techs or engi's out there have any ideas that I could try to boost GW2?

This rig:

z97 motherboard/1055 chipset

Intel i7 2600k 3.4GHz OCd to 3.7GHz

16GB RAM

eVGA GTX780

all drivers and firmware up to date.

I'm worried I might have to reinstall GW2 or repair/dl  so I'm just asking if anyone has any other ideas before I use up my bandwidth.

I'd try to defrag the game folder, before I tried downloading.  GW2 uses a huge single 21g compressed data file, so if that is fragmented, it can cause a lot of read hits on the hard drive, as it tries to load the textures that its needing.  Usually you can tell if something is up, along those lines, when the HDD light lights up hard when running a game.

Outside of that, I'd look for something that is interfering with dat file uncompressing process, AV program would be primary suspect.

I really don't see a need to download or repair anything, but run a repair first, if you have bandwidth limits: "E:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -repair but replace the folder path w/yours.

Pretty much all I have, I run GW2 @ High on an old Duo Core w/a 460GTX card, so I doubt its your hardware, especially if other games run as expected.

That wont work, I have it installed on an SSD.

I re-downloaded the whole client overnight and it's still terrible.  I also tried the troubleshooting tips at https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/support/PC-FPS-and-Performance-based-issues but they didn't help either.

It's crazy that I am getting 60+ fps in games like ESO and GTAV but struggle to breach 20fps in GW2.

1. Make sure you are playing in full screen mode and not window mode

2. Make sure your graphic card driver is up to date from their official site, not by checking through windows' hardware manager
